When I got sober, I started taking life very, very seriously. It is part of the gig as you must start looking at things a bit closer and how you process decisions. However, if you start to take things too seriously and remove all the fun, what's the real point of it all?
It's like turning lemons into lemonade and then pouring it down the drain. You have to find ways to appreciate and enjoy the new life that YOU created.
There's a reason you are here reading this now, and it's not to suffer, although at first there may be a bit of that.
No! It was to live a life that you could enjoy and actually participate in, not just be a blind bystander as it whisks by.
The real goal is to appreciate the moment, appreciate how far you have come, and celebrate in a healthy way.
There is so much that life has to offer, and there's a reason why you felt like it WAS passing you by when you were using...
It's because it WAS!

But if you get sober and are so fixated on it that you remove all the fun from your life. There is a chance of falling back into your old ways. The key to self-improvement is to eliminate bad habits and replace them with good ones.
It’s a multi-step process and there are a ton of options: things you could try out to replace your old lifestyle. Don't replace drugs with wasting time in other ways… instead, put that energy into enjoyable aspects of life.
Find a new hobby. Meet new friends that are improving their lives as well, go for walks and appreciate nature, or read the endless amount of books and poetry available at your fingertips.
There's a whole world out there calling your name, and you finally have a clear enough mind to call back!

It might be hard at first, sure. You are in fact rewiring your brain. But time heals all wounds... wait… so is laughter not the best medicine... 🤔
The best medicine might actually be TIME!
Take a lesson from one of the greatest philosophers of all time, Oogway (The Turtle from Kung Fu Panda)
“Yesterday is history, Tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That’s why it is called the “present”

So don't get caught up on your past failures or places you used to have fun. And don't worry about what you are going to be doing tomorrow or next week.
Focus on what you are doing right now and enjoy the gift that has been granted to you. And if you are going to think about the future... think about it as a mystery, the adventure that it is. 🥳
🧘🏽 DAILY MEDITATION: Just Breathe 🧘🏽
Breathe… Feel The air gently enter the lowest chambers of your lungs and slowly fill up.
First Your Stomach, then your Diagram, and finally your chest.
Breathe.
Start to feel the relaxation spread across your body. Down your arms to your fingertips.
Feel the Energy of the universe (air) pushing the blood in your body down your legs, through your knees, and to your toes.
Take another deep breath making sure to fully exhale after each one to remove all the stale air laying about.
Say to yourself. “I am here, I am present. I am me, and I am in a control”
Repeat it again as you take another deep breath.
