✒ Self-Care Hacks ✒

Alright, future me, let’s get one thing straight—you better be reading this with a smug, proud smile on your face because we did it. One whole year of sobriety! If you’re reading this and sipping on a green juice instead of clutching a regret-laden hangover coffee, then we’ve officially leveled up.

Writing a letter to your future self is like sending a time capsule of hope, dreams, and maybe a few passive-aggressive reminders (seriously, did we ever start that yoga routine?). It’s a powerful tool for recovery because it forces us to visualize what success actually looks like. Studies show that mental time travel—imagining our future selves—can increase motivation and self-control (Hershfield et al., 2011). Basically, your brain treats future you like a real person, which means you’re more likely to make choices that benefit them.

Think about it: a year from now, what does your life look like? Maybe your skin is glowing, your bank account isn’t hemorrhaging money from late-night UberEats binges, and your relationships aren’t built on a foundation of "Sorry, I blacked out last night." Maybe you’ve picked up a new hobby, like rock climbing or aggressively organizing your spice rack. The point is—you get to decide.

Seal that letter up, stash it somewhere safe, and open it in a year. Future you will be thankful you took the time to believe in them today. And if they didn’t follow through? Well, this letter is also a great motivational slap-in-the-face. Either way, you win.
