๐งฎ Bite-Size Therapy: Positive Self-Talk
Our inner voice drives everything we think and do. Unfortunately, it's easy to let your inner monologue shift to negativity...it's no wonder everything seems to go wrong when that happens!

But you've left the addictive substances behind...now it's time to leave the negativity behind too! By shifting your mindset, you can develop an optimistic outlook, build confidence, and ward off self-fulfilling prophecies of relapse.
In fact, research shows that positive self-talk leads to a better quality of life, increased vitality, improved immune function, reduced pain, better heart health, and less stress.
So how can you get started? Surely it's not as easy as flipping a switch and suddenly seeing everything as roses and sunshine, right?

While there are more complex ways to identify negative thinking and replace it with positive thoughts...let's make it easy. Start by doing these things:
Laugh whenever possible. Hopefully our emails help!
Surround yourself with positive people (and avoid the negative Nancie's!)
Use positive affirmations.... tell yourself "I am doing great. I am amazing. I am successful. I am doing my best"
Express gratitude. Even on the worst days, try to find something you are grateful for. It can be anything...even something as simple as a good lunch or hearing a good song on the radio.
Stop letting the small stuff get to you. Let them bounce off.... know that it doesn't matter in the long run!
Use the journal prompt below to start focusing on the positives, even when each day is filled with both good and bad.

โ Journal Prompt โ
Write about everything that made today good, and why it had such a positive effect.
