1️⃣Hope Moves In: Rock Falls Opens Sober-Living Home for Women

Big news in Rock Falls! 🎉 A new place called Cledy’s House of Hope just opened its doors, and it's a super awesome home for women who want to live sober and strong. With 42 beds and lots of heart, this place helps women stay on the recovery track.

On May 13, they had a big ribbon-cutting party (yes, with giant scissors and everything ✂️), and the whole town is buzzing! The magic happened thanks to Highlight Healthcare, which donated not one, but TWO buildings to a group called Sauk Valley Voices of Recovery. One of those buildings became Cledy’s House.

It’s not just a house—it’s a hope headquarters! 💪 Whether you’re kicking bad habits or just cheering others on, this spot is all about second chances and strong sisterhood.

Moral of the story: Rock Falls is officially rocking hope, healing, and probably some really cozy bunk beds. 🛏️💖

2️⃣Meet Racquel Garcia: 15 Years Sober and Saving Lives

Racquel Garcia is a real-life superhero in high heels. She’s been sober for 15 years and now helps other people get better too. She used to party hard, but one day, after too many drinks and a car full of kids, she had a big “uh-oh” moment. Instead of driving home drunk, she drove to her parents’ house and chose recovery instead of regret.

Now Racquel shares her story in prisons, hospitals, and even to fancy doctors. (She once got a high five from a Chief Medical Officer!) She’s not just helping strangers—she’s building an army of recovery warriors. She says talking to a peer, someone who's been there, makes a huge difference. Even though she still feels sad about the friends she couldn’t save, she turns her pain into power.

Her message? You don’t have to drink. And life after recovery? It’s actually kind of awesome.

4️⃣Marilyn Grimes: The Courageous Woman Turning Struggles into Sober Success

Marilyn Grimes knows staying sober isn’t just about saying no to bad stuff—it’s about saying yes to a daily routine. After battling addiction herself, she saw that life after rehab or prison can be messy. No job? No bed? No one texting back? Yeah, not great. So in 2016, Marilyn teamed up with Brandon Drake and a kind landlord to create Courage to Change, a sober living program in Bloomington, Indiana. It started with one spare bedroom—and now it’s grown to six houses and 40 residents (with a waitlist longer than a Black Friday line).

The program helps people get back on their feet with jobs, roommates who actually care, and even 12-step programs. Marilyn says it’s about showing your loved ones you’re putting in the work. Her motto? “I can get my crap together here.” And she's living proof—because she has.

5️⃣Amanda’s House: A Safe Harbor Where Women Beat Addiction — One Day (or Two Years) at a Time

Paula Jolly started Amanda’s House in Green Bay to help women and their kids break free from addiction—and honor her daughter’s memory. This isn’t just any sober home; ladies can stay as long as they need, whether that’s a few weeks or a couple of years. The house fills up fast, and there’s always a long waitlist because more women need this safe place than there are beds! Paula, who knows a thing or two about addiction help, made Amanda’s House a place where women learn life skills, get mental health support, and build new, healthier habits. One resident, Doxtator, has stayed over two years and feels ready—but also a little nervous—to rejoin the world outside. Paula’s motto? “Stay until the wheels fall off!” Now, Paula’s working on adding more bedrooms to help even more women heal. Green Bay’s catching up, and Amanda’s House is leading the way—one sober day at a time!
