🎯Lamar Odom Launches Addiction Treatment Centers to Help Others on Their Road to Recovery!

Today's news is all about a former NBA star, Lamar Odom, who's decided to invest in addiction treatment centers to help others on their sobriety journeys. You see, Lamar has had his own struggles with substance abuse in the past, but he's now trying to use his experiences to help others.

He's started the Odom Wellness Treatment Centers, which are located in Southern California and offer rehabilitation programs for people struggling with addiction. Recently, Lamar posted a photo of himself with his partners and staff at one of the centers, saying that he feels blessed to be able to save others after God saved him.

This comes after Lamar's own near-fatal overdose at a Nevada brothel in 2015. He suffered from kidney failure and other health issues, which led him to get sober. And now, he's using his experiences to help others on their own road to recovery. For Lamar, helping others is even more satisfying than people telling him how great of a basketball player he was. We think that's pretty cool, don't you?

🎯Let's Try A Better Drinking Culture: College Athletes Face Pressures to Drink Heavily

Do you know what's a favorite pastime for college athletes? Nope, not playing video games or studying, it's actually binge drinking! According to a recent study in England, 62% of student athletes reported drinking at least twice per week, compared to only 43% of those who didn't play sports. That's a lot of alcohol!

The study also found that student athletes who play team sports drink even more heavily than those who play individual sports. For example, 58% of team sport players were drinking heavily at least once a week, compared to 47% for individual sport players.

But why do student athletes drink so much? Well, according to the research, they face a lot of pressure to do so. Drinking alcohol is a tradition in university sports, and athletes are expected to drink following matches and attend social events. Those who don't drink as expected are punished with humiliating challenges and a lower social status. Yikes!

However, there are also benefits to drinking heavily, such as gaining a higher social status within the group's social hierarchy. But coaches and universities have a responsibility to encourage more moderate drinking behaviors and provide alternative team-building activities that don't center around heavy drinking (Shoutout to our friends at BetterDrinkingCulture.org who provide excellent ideas for this). After all, alcohol is not the only way to generate a team culture. So, let's raise a glass of water to a healthier and safer college sports culture!

🎯 Portland Goes from Funky to "Post-Apocalyptic" - Walmart Leaves and Lawlessness Reigns!

Have you heard of Portland? It used to be a funky, cool city with yummy food and buses that actually showed up on time. But now, according to this article, it's a "post-apocalyptic" nightmare filled with crime, drugs, and pollution. Yikes!

Apparently, the city is plagued by shootings, toxic waste, and drug addicts who can't get the help they need. And businesses are suffering too because of rampant shoplifting. Even Walmart, a big ol' store with lots of money, is packing up and leaving town.

Some people think that the move is just a way for a conservative family to stick it to the liberal city. But who knows? All we know is that Portland doesn't seem like a very fun place to be right now.

So, what can we learn from this? Maybe we should take care of our cities and not let them turn into lawless wastelands. And if you're thinking about starting a business, maybe don't do it in Portland.
