✒ Self-Care Hacks ✒

Let’s be real—some days, the only thing getting crossed off the to-do list is your patience. So instead of setting yourself up for another round of “I didn’t even do one of these things,” flip the script and try a Nope List. That’s right—it's a sassy little inventory of all the things you are not doing today. Think of it as self-care in reverse.

✍️ Not texting my ex.
✍️ Not checking my work email at 10 PM.
✍️ Not buying a bottle of wine just because it’s Tuesday and I saw a squirrel that looked like it needed a drink.

According to a study from the University of California, Davis, setting clear intentions and boundaries helps lower cortisol levels—aka the stress hormone that turns us into feral raccoons with Wi-Fi. Creating a Nope List is basically putting up an “Out of Order” sign on your stress circuits. And for those of us navigating sober recovery, this can be a real power move. It reinforces choice, clarity, and that oh-so-beautiful word: control.

There’s something deeply satisfying—almost rebellious—about declaring what you won’t do. It’s the adult version of slamming your bedroom door and shouting, “I’M NOT GOING TO CLEAN MY ROOM AND YOU CAN’T MAKE ME!”

So go ahead. Get your Nope List on. Make it fancy. Frame it. Tattoo it. (Okay, maybe not that last one.) Because saying "nope" to the things that drain you is actually saying "yep" to your mental health, sobriety, and sweet, sweet peace of mind.

What’s going on your Nope List today?
