In Part 1 we discussed some of the reasons of why you should start meditating and how it can change your life. Here I want to give you where to start and why you are most likely overthinking it.
Meditation, in it's simplest form, is the art of doing nothing... That seems easy, right?

We often think we are "meditating wrong" if we think any thoughts at all. The truth is that you can't meditate wrong so long as you are observing ourselves.
Their are a millions of different types of incredible meditation techniques. Including body scans, transcendental meditation, Wim Hof Breathing, etc.
These all work, and are all beneficial to try and do. The way I look at it is once you start meditating consistently. What's the harm in trying something new? Worst case you just go back to the technique you prefer the following day.
Now the goal of meditation is to clear your head. Not to necessarily have a consistently cleared mind... You will not simply be cleared but rather must take action over and over again to clear your mind.
When one shovels snow they haven't just cleared their driveway. They are actively clearing the driveway. The practice is not about having no thoughts. But rather clearing those thoughts like each shovel of snow you toss. (Apply this to cleaning the dishes for those who don't have to shovel snow :)
This practice will become second nature as you do it over and over again. Day after day. Just like drinking coffee every morning your mind will naturally start to push the intruding thoughts away.
Overtime it caries into the rest of your life and when anxious, or depressive thoughts pop into your head. You can simply say, "Okay that nice" and then move on. This is what it's all about and that brings me to the simple 4-step Meditation method I use. Follow this and it will take out all the stress of the practice.

The 4-step Meditation Method
Step 1. Clear your thoughts
Step 2. Appreciate your cleared mind
Step 3. Realize your mind is no longer cleared
Step 4. Repeat Step 1
Don't overthink it. Just Do It.
