ā Self-Care Hacks ā
As 2024 winds down, letās talk about the ultimate power move: reflecting on how far youāve come in your sober journey. This isnāt just some woo-woo self-help fluff; itās scientifically backed! Studies show that gratitude practicesālike reflecting on accomplishmentsācan increase happiness and reduce symptoms of depression (Emmons & McCullough, 2003). So grab your gratitude goggles, and letās dive in!
#1 Celebrate the Wins
Big or small, every accomplishment matters. Did you make it through a tough day without caving? Thatās a win. Did you hit a major milestone, like 90 or 365 days sober? Cue the confetti! Reflecting on these moments fosters motivation and reminds you that youāre stronger than your cravings.
#2 Write a Letter to 2024 You
Yes, itās a little cheesy, but trust me, it works. Write a thank-you note to yourself for surviving the hard days, appreciating the good ones, and staying committed to your growth. Think of it as a love letter to the warrior within you. Not only does this boost self-esteem, but it also reinforces positive self-talkākey for maintaining sobriety.
#3 Set Intentions for 2025
Forget resolutionsātheyāre like those gym memberships we enthusiastically sign up for but abandon by February. Intentions, however, are grounded in purpose. Want to reach 365 days sober? Amazing. Want to pick up a new hobby to fill those Friday nights? Even better. Write them down and keep them visibleāintentions thrive on clarity.
As the year wraps up, pat yourself on the back. Youāve faced 2024 like a boss. Hereās to an even brighter, bolder, and sober-er 2025!
